|  What type of businesses I need to support?

You need to be a non-VAT registered Sole Trader, and for those filing a Self-Assessment Tax Return through the App, you need to be filing in the UK. We are working hard to extend our support for those needing to be VAT registered, and for the owners of Limited Companies.

|  How do I open an account with Kletta?

Getting started with Kletta is easy. Click “Join the Waitlist” or “Sign up” to get a free 30-day trial. You'll need a working phone number to begin with so that we can text you an access code. We use phone verification to make sure that you're a real person and to filter out bad actors. It not only simplifies the registration process but also prevents fraud and delivers secure account recovery.

3  |  Which accounting method does Kletta support?

Kletta is currently supporting Cash Basis accounting only.

‘Cash basis’ is a preferred way to work out your income and expenses for self-employed. With cash basis, income and expenses are recorded only when you’ve actually received and paid the due money.

4  |  Why use cash basis?

If you run a small business, cash basis accounting may suit you better than traditional accounting.

This is because you only need to declare money when it comes in and out of your business. At the end of the tax year, you won’t have to pay Income Tax on money you didn’t receive in your accounting period.

5  |  Who can use cash basis?

You can use cash basis if you:

  • run a small self-employed business, for example: sole trader or partnership

  • have a turnover of £150,000 or less a year

  • If you have more than one business, you must use cash basis for all your businesses. The combined turnover from your businesses must be less than £150,000.

Kletta shall be expanded to support traditional accounting and Limited company in the near future.

6  |  How can I generate and send invoices?

Kletta offers you a Point-of-sale system specifically designed for service-based businesses. Kletta makes it painlessly easy to add products and services and generate professional-looking estimates and invoices and automatically send them to your clients. With Kletta, now you can invoice your clients anywhere, anytime.

7  |  Can I capture and record expenses?

Kletta lets you submit expenses on the go. You can simply capture a picture of the receipt and Kletta will extract all necessary information for expenses recording, sort them by category and generate monthly reports.

8  |  Track or claim mileage?

All business miles are deductible on your tax return.
Kletta lets you track your mileage with virtually no effort. You can automatically track your mileage when you are on the go or you can manually enter origins and destinations of your past trips. All your travel information will be archived and recorded accurately, every time.

9  |  What records can you export from Kletta?

Kletta makes it easy for you to review, revise your business performance whether for review before submitting to the tax office or for business analysis or to consult an accountant. You can easily extract income and expenses reports from your account and have them sent to your email instantly anywhere, anytime.

10  |  Setting up Tax Profile

Your Tax estimate is only as accurate as of the information you input to the app. By completing the Tax Profile, you are helping Kletta to have a better estimate of your tax position and hence you can have a better overview of your self-employed business.

11  |  What is Tax Estimate and Take-home Pay?

Gone are the days of headache-causing self-assessment tax return deadlines. With Kletta’s automated bookkeeping, you can now know a rough estimate of your tax liability up-to-date and how much you actually earn after tax.

Please bear in mind that your tax estimate is only as accurate as of the information you input to the app and might be different from the HMRC final figure as every taxpayers' circumstances are different, but it can be served as a quick and general overview of your tax position.

12  |  Is Kletta app ready for Making Tax Digital?

Kletta is designed to be compatible with Income Tax MTD, which means Kletta can keep your records and submit returns to HMRC via their Application Programming Interface. We are working hard with HMRC on final testings to have Kletta fully integrated.

13  |  How does Kletta handle my data?

Safety should be a concern whenever you hand over your financial data to another party. With a number of recent attacks and security breaches at financial institutions, users are right to keep a watchful eye on their sensitive personal information. Here at Kletta, we leverage a number of security measures to keep your data secure, including two-factor authentication, passwords, and Touch ID/Face ID.

14  |  Is Kletta compliant with the GDPR?

Kletta makes every effort to comply with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect in May 2018. The GDPR aims to provide EU citizens and residents more control over how organizations handle, store, and use their personal data. We recognize that you're placing a great deal of trust in us by providing access to your financial information. We promise to safeguard this information to the best of our abilities. In addition, we promise never to give your data to a third party without your explicit consent. We'll only send you communication that you've agreed to receive, and that is relevant and engaging for your needs as a small business.
